Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategic Commissioning Plan
Overview
The Scottish Government published the national Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy in 2023, which set out the long-term vision and approach to improving the mental health and wellbeing of everyone in Scotland. Mental health and wellbeing strategy - gov.scot
In June 2024, a core strategic planning group for mental health and wellbeing was established, tasked with developing a strategic commissioning plan (SCP) for Forth Valley that has a focus on improving the mental health and wellbeing of Forth Valley's population. This has been modelled on the approach Scottish Government took around prevent, promote and provide.
The SCP will outline early intervention and prevention approaches to poor mental health and wellbeing, while also addressing the needs of people living with long term mental health conditions.
Locally over recent months, engagement has happened in local communities around the needs of individuals and their families and carers around mental health and wellbeing. This was supported by a strategic needs assessment.
The Forth Valley draft Mental Health and Wellbeing Commisioning Plan is now being engaged on and this survey should take no longer than twenty minutes to complete.
